3 Day | 5 Day | 10 Day | Custom | Skill Specific
These courses are designed as stand alone courses and can be or already are, incorporated into the three or five day mountaineering courses.
Crevasse Rescue and Glacier Travel: (one day). This course covers roping up as a rope team with a glacier travel "rig" using prussiks, fixed rope ascending, anchoring, hauling systems, and travel techniques. You must have either previous experience with the skills covered in our Snow School class or take that class prior to the glacier travel / crevasse rescue class.
Snow School Only: (one day). We cover all the skills related to the use of ice axe, crampons and roped snow climbing. The skills include: Snow climbing, self arrest, glissade, snow protection, anchoring, dynamic belays and climbing as a rope team.
Alpine Rock Climbing: (one day). This class covers rock climbing that is unique to the alpine setting, including short rope technique, anchoring, following and multi-pitch climbing in an alpine environment. It includes an ascent of the West Face Buttress of Snowdon Peak. You must have basic rock climbing skills prior to this climb.
Snowdon Peak West Face: (One day). An ascent of Snowdon peak is recommended as a way to apply your snow climbing skills to a real alpine climb. Doing this will reinforce your newly learned skills. The climb itself, ascends the majestic West Coulair of Snowdon Peak in a narrow and moderately steep (up to 45 degrees) gully then follows a fine ridge to the summit.
